Nicki Minaj won Best Female Hip Hop Artist for the fourth year running
Multi-nominee Drake mysteriously pulled out of the show at the last minute
By ELEANOR GOWER
Plunging: Nicki Minaj showed off her cleavage in a tight, plunging silver corset as she took to the stage at Sunday's BET Awards
BET's censors struggled to bleep out some of the singer's expletives during her appearance.
She later swapped the oufit for an equally plunging black leather and a long skirt to accept the award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, for the fourth year running.
'This is my fourth award in a row and everytime I win it's a humbling experience because my fans are such amazing people,' Nicki said in her acceptance speech.
'They inspire me. I'm going to keep doing it for you all. BET, you've been supporting me from day one.'
Surprise appearance: Minaj's risqué rap had the BET censors scrambling at the end of Brown's performance
Curvy: Minaj showed off her curves in yet another revealing gown as she posed backstage with her award
The white stuff: Mariah Carey took to the stage to perform her latest hit Beautiful
Brown also won a gong, scooping the Fandemonium Award for the fourth time in a row, and he immediately thanked Minaj.
'First off, I want to thank Nicki for performing with me and making it an incredible performance. Thank you baby girl,' he said, before voicing his appreciation to 'Team Breezy.'
He ended by telling the crowd: 'Don't read the bull in the news. I'm a real dude.'
Taking in the drama: Mariah performed on a typically elaborate set for a memorable number
Low cut and classic: Mariah also showed off her cleavage in a plunging gown
It wasn't the end of Minaj's presence at the ceremony - she later joined Ciara for a performance of Body Party.
And the 27-year-old proved to be a striking stage presence in an outfit decorated with one dollar bills.
Earlier, Minaj's American Idol arch rival Mariah Carey took to the stage to perform new song Beautiful with Miguel and Young Jeezy.
Energy: Chris Brown put in an enthusiastic performance of two of his hits to open the 2013 BET Awards
Fans favourite: Brown accepted the Fandemonium Award for the fourth year in a row
Paying tribute: Charlie Wilsopn thanked his fans and family after accepting the award from the Suit & Tie singer
Warm reception: Stevie Wonder joined the musicians paying tribute to Wilson by performing Burn Rubber and Why You Want To Hurt Me
Wowing the crowd: Pharrell, Timberlake and Wilson took to the stage in an energetic performance on stage
After a video montage honouring 60-year-old Wilson's life in music, India Arie, Jamie Foxx and Stevie Wonder all took to the stage.
Arie sung There Goes My Baby, Foxx performed Yearning For Your Love and Wonder wowed the crowd with Burn Rubber and Why You Want to Hurt Me
'It is by God's grace that has allowed me to stand here today still at the top of my game,' Wilson told the crowd in his acceptance speech.
Collaborative effort: Pharrell Williams and T.I. joined Thicke on stage for the song which down a storm with the audience
Flashing the flesh: Thicke cavorted with several scantily clad backing dancers during the number
The Gap Band star didn't need much persuading to sing a number or two himself and brought the audience to its feet with his song You Are before being joined onstage by Pharrell Williams and Snoop Lion before Timberlake stepped out to form an unlikely quartet.
The foursome ended the spectacular with Gap hits You Dropped a Bomb on Me and Outstanding.
In a performance-packed show, Robin Thicke took the stage to perform his international hit Blurred Lines.

Brazil defeats Spain to win Confederations Cup
Brazil won a heated matchup of past and present soccer powers, boosting its confidence as it prepares to host next year's World Cup.
Fred scored two goals, Neymar added another and Brazil defeated world champion Spain 3-0 in the Confederations Cup final on Sunday night as protesters clashed with riot police outside Maracana Stadium.
Brazil, a five-time world champion, beat the reigning world and European champion and ended Spain's 29-game, three-year winning streak in competitive matches.
"We beat the world champions today, but we know that the tournament that we will be playing next year will be a lot more difficult," Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said. "Now we have more confidence. That's what we needed."
Fred put Brazil ahead in the second minute, Neymar doubled the lead in the 44th with his fourth goal of the tournament and Fred added his fifth in the 47th.
Brazil, which won its third straight Confederations Cup, has not lost a competitive home match since 1975.
Spain, which had not lost a competitive game since its 2010 World Cup opener against Switzerland, had a miserable night. Sergio Ramos sent a penalty kick wide in the 55th and defender Gerard Pique was ejected by Dutch referee Bjorn Kuipers with a straight red card for fouling Neymar in the 68th.
"They were superior on every way," Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque said. "They scored early. This is not an excuse but they had pressure on us all the time."
The champion is back
Eliminated in the quarterfinals of the last two World Cups, the Selecao entered the tournament having not played a competitive match since the 2011 Copa America, Brazil had slipped to 22nd in the FIFA rankings, between Ghana and Mali.
Spain, ranked first for the past 20 months, is the most accomplished national team of the 21st century, winning its first World Cup in 2010 between titles in the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.
But in the stadium that will host the World Cup final on July 14 next year, Brazil dominated La Furia Roja.
"The champion is back," chanted the crowd of more than 73,000 people at the renovated Maracana.
It also didn't take long before the fans — in a sea of yellow jerseys — started teasing the Spaniards, chanting "Wanna play, wanna play!? Brazil will teach you."
Spain had been unbeaten in 26 matches overall, including friendlies, since a 1-0 loss to England in London in 2011 and had outscored opponents 69-11 in competitive matches since the loss to Switzerland in South Africa.
But Spain had not played Brazil since a 1999 exhibition, and they hadn't met in a competitive match since the Selecao's 1-0 win in the first round of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.

Traffic stopper! Miranda Kerr looks stunning in floral print dress as she steps out for a meeting in New York
By DAILY MAIL REPORTER
Legging it: Miranda Kerr was sure to impress whoever she was on her way to meet with on Saturday as she glammed up in a demure floral frock in New York City
The streets of New York City became her catwalk on Saturday, as she pictured strutting across the road.
As usual, stunning supermodel Miranda Kerr, 30, was a true traffic-stopper as she legged it to a New York City meeting, flashing a friendly smile.
The natural beauty needed only minimal eye makeup and a dash of luminous red lipstick to look glamorous.
A patient beauty: the 30-year-old supermodel had time to stop to smile at the shutterbugs as she showed off her stunning physique
The Victoria's Secret model opted for a rather conservative but very form-fitting blue and white floral dress which fell just above her knees.
Where Miranda's legs-for-days finally ended, she wore red heels that accentuated her already statuesque figure.
That same red was matched in her choice of lipstick for the day and she kept her jewellery to a minimum with diamond studs.
Her own Romeo: Miranda's husband Orlando Bloom will soon be starring in NYC's Broadway production of Romeo and Juliet, alongside Condola Rashan
The Australian's brunette tresses were styled in loose curls, and she carried a classic black handbag.
Meanwhile, Miranda's husband Orlando Bloom will be arriving in New York soon, as he is set to star alongside Tony Award nominee Condola Rashad in the latest revival of Romeo and Juliet on Broadway which opens in August.
In this production, producers say 'the members of the Montague household will be white, and the blood relatives of the Capulet family will be black' as 'race defines the family lineages'.
The actor recently said goodbye to his character Legolas having wrapped up his work on The Hobbit.
On his final day of filming, Orlando sang along to the the viral video Hobbits to Isengard.
Director Peter Jackson posted the video on his website saying: 'A day after saying goodbye to Gandalf and Tauriel, it was time to farewell Legolas.'
'What a great day it was, with Orlando battling a serious Orc for all 12 hours of shooting – part of the Battle of the 5 Armies for the third Hobbit movie.'
He then added: 'When we finally got the day done, we said goodbye to Orlando, had a couple of beers … and couldn’t resist doing this!'

Glastonbury festival-goers strip off as rain clears and the sun comes out
By ROSIE TAYLOR
Fans dressed for summer danced on friends' shoulders while watching singer Ben Howard perform on the Pyramid Stage
It may be notorious for its wet weather and seas of mud but they were nowhere to be seen today as the rain and clouds cleared and the sun made a welcome appearance at Glastonbury Festival.
Unprecedented crowds gathered at the Pyramid stage for the Rolling Stones' set. It is the first time the legendary rockers have played at Worthy Farm and their appearance has been hotly-anticipated, with thousands of fans wearing Stones t-shirts and masks
Festival-goers soaked up the sun as it came out over Worthy Farm, in Somerset, site of the Glastonbury Festival
Crowds who yesterday wore wellies and raincoats, took advantage of the afternoon's warm weather by stripping down to beachwear and lying on the grass at Worthy Farm, in Somerset, for a spot of sunbathing.
Celebrities have flocked to the festival, with Prince Harry rumoured to be accompanying on-off girlfriend Cressida Bonas who was seen near the Park Stage.
The viewing area at the Pyramid Stage was extended to allow for the crowds expected to be in place for the start of their 9.30pm set, with festival organiser Michael Eavis saying he was worried the band could prove to be too popular.

Elvis Costello had the crowd singing along during his set at Worthy farm this afternoon
Public Enemy and Chase & Status are performing on other stages at the same time - but for many of the 135,000 ticket holders, the Stones are the main draw of the weekend.
Fans are busy guessing who the band's special guests will be - with bets placed on Bruce Springsteen and Adele - and the meaning of the giant mechanical phoenix on top of the stage.
Chris Kneller, 25, a Formula One design engineer from Maidstone, Kent, said: 'It's going to be one of those classic Glastonbury moments. There's a bit of anticipation because of the massive bird on the Pyramid - there's never been anything on it before.

'It got pretty bad with Arctic Monkeys there last night, so I can't imagine how crowded it will get though.'
Adam Robinson, a 25-year-old personal trainer from Ipswich, said: 'It's probably the only time we'll ever see the Stones. I know the festival organisers have been trying to get hold of them for a long time, so there will be a brilliant atmosphere.
'I predict there will be a massive singalong.'
Victoria Hamilton, 25, from Swansea, wearing a t-shirt showing the Stones in their 60s heyday, said: 'I don't know how they do it at their age. I'd love it if Adele came on with them.'
Three-year-old Annabel Green (left) and sister Olivia, five, enjoy an icecream and a lift from father David
David Knight, 56, from Glastonbury, is looking forward to seeing Sir Mick Jagger perform for the fourth time.
'It's going to be pretty amazing to have them here,' he said. 'It's the biggest festival in the world and the world's greatest rock and roll band. I think they go together very well.'
Sir Mick's brother also lives in Glastonbury and could well be among the audience, along with Jade and Elizabeth Jagger.
The grass at the festival site was dry enough for sunbathing, with the usual seas of mud nowhere to be seen
Celebrities including Wayne and Colleen Rooney and Kate Moss are expected to be watching the 2hr 15min set, the first hour of which will be televised on the BBC.
Guitarist Keith Richards said this week that the band was 'destined' to make an appearance at Glastonbury, despite turning down a slot for many years, and declared: 'It had to be done.'
In an interview about the performance posted online, guitarist Richards said: 'I mean there were many years when we were offered it and turned it down. I look upon it as a culmination of our British heritage really. It had to be done and it's gonna be done, and we'll see what happens, you know.'
Friends Shivaun, aged 21, from India, Sabine, 21, from Lebanon and Sara aged 23, from Britain enjoy the festival

The Victoria's Secret model was gorgeous in the black dress that sported a white-flower pattern as she made her way into an office building.
The flirty number featured cutouts on the waist and at the collarbone, highlighting the mother-of-one's trim figure to perfection.
She wore trendy studded ankle boots and carried a large leather bag while shielding her eyes with cat-eye sunglasses.
Miranda scraped her highlighted hair into a schoolgirl ponytail and she kept her makeup natural.

The Australian stunner credits her glow and slender figure to a regular yoga practice and eating a balanced diet.
In an interview with Vogue UK she said: 'I practice yoga daily; I do half an hour in the morning plus half an hour of meditation.'
She continued: 'I love food and enjoy eating fresh organic produce. I drink warm water and lemon every morning and I also drink lots of good quality purified and preferably alkaline water throughout the day.'

The thigh's the limit! Miranda Kerr flashes her slender legs in a summery button-up maxi dress
The thigh's the limit: Miranda Kerr flashes a hint of her slender thigh in a printed red and beige sleeveless button-up maxi dress as she heads to a photo shoot in Long Beach, New York on Thursday
She posted a snap of herself wearing lingerie the day before.
But Miranda Kerr was much more covered up on Thursday as she headed to a photo shoot in Long Beach, New York.
However, the 30-year-old still managed to flash a snippet of her slender legs as she stepped out in a button-up sleeveless maxi dress.
Chic: The brunette beauty teamed the ensemble with flat sandals and a straw fedora hat
The almost 'prairie' attire was unbuttoned conveniently at Miranda's thigh and she revealed even more skin as she held the fabric of the skirt to one side.

To complete her Southern-style look Miranda wore her hair in a plait to the side, and for a modern twist Miranda donned a pair of Miu Miu hexagonal-frame shades.
Earlier in the day, the mother-of-one tweeted a skyline view from her Big Apple set with a backdrop of overcast clouds.
However, things brightened up later in the day with the sun shining on Miranda's set.
On Wednesday, Miranda treated her fans to a sexy snap of herself posing in a lacy bra and underwear set as she posed on a balcony which looked out to the sea.

Here comes the sun: The brunette beauty strolled around the streets soaking up the sunshine
Seemingly fresh out of the shower and with her wet hair bundled up in a white towel, she was pictured sipping out of a tea cup.
She accompanied the racy snap with the cheeky caption: 'Anyone for a tea?'
Miranda keenly uses her Instagram and Twitter accounts to reach out to her 1.9 million followers.
Earlier this week, Miranda posted a lifestyle video she made for Net-a-Porter, titled The Body Beautiful.
'Boys like their cars, I like my Vitamix,' Miranda tells the camera.

'[My morning shake] is for maximum energy and vitality. It's a power smoothie that's really alkalising, nutrient dense and high in vitamins and minerals.'
The healthy green smoothie consists of coconut water, cold-pressed coconut milk, acai powder, goji berries, spirulina, raw cacao powder, chia seeds, and vegan rice powder.
She also recently participated in a sexy bikini shoot to promote luxury online boutique Net-a-Porter's summer collection of swimwear.
