'This hurts. I love you. Rest in peace': Selena Gomez mourns Glee star Cory Monteith and tweets photo of them hugging

R.I.P.: Numerous celebrities mournfully took to their Twitter pages to express their shock and grief over the death of Cory Monteith on Saturday

Selena Gomez has led the slew of celebrity tweets paying tribute to Glee star Cory Monteith who died on Saturday, aged 31.
The actress and singer posted a picture of herself and Cory hugging on the red carpet of the Kids' Choice Awards back in 2011 along with a poignant message.
'This hurts,' she wrote. 'I love you Cory. Rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.'

Selena was just one of numerous celebrities who took to their Twitter pages to express their shock and grief over the death of Cory.
The body of the Canadian star, who played Finn Hudson on Fox's Glee, was found shortly after noon by Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel staff.
According to the Vancouver Sun, there are no indications of foul play, and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Cory's girlfriend Lea Michele released a statement through her representative saying: 'We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea’s privacy during this devastating time.'
His co-star Mark Salling was one of the first to respond to the news, simply tweeting the word 'No.'
And Cory's Glee colleagues largely stayed silent after the tragic news, but Harry Shum Jr and Dot Marie Jones who play Mike Chang and Shannon Beiste were among the few to tweet their condolences.
'At this time, please send nothing but love and light,' wrote Harry. 'This tragic news still doesn't feel real to me.'

'I am blessed to have worked with him and love him so much!' tweeted Dot-Marie. 'My heart is with his family and our whole Glee family! I love you all!
'I have no words! My heart is broken. Cory was not only a hell of a friend, he was one amazing man that I will hold close to my heart forever.'
John Stamos, who appeared in a few episodes of Glee in 2010-2011, added to the slew of tributes, posting up a photograph of himself with the star.
'First day on Glee he said to me, I can't believe I'm working w/Uncle Jesse - I can't believe I'm writing this tweet,' John wrote. 'Heartbreaking. R.I.P. Cory.
'We talked about how lucky he felt to be alive and sober. We talked about playing drums. Glad I knew you Cory.'

Glad I knew you Cory: John posted a picture of himself and the Glee star in what appeared to be a break from filming the show.

Adam Shankman, who has directed Cory on Glee, tweeted: Goodbye my amazing and beautiful friend. The lights in my world just grew dimmer. The world just lost one of our best. I love u so much.
'I will always cherish you in my heart. Thank you for so many wonderful memories. I love you CM.'
Kristin Chenoweth, who guest starred as April Rhodes in the TV show added to the words of condolence: 'RIP Corey Monteith. You Will be loved. Always,' she wrote.

Kim Kardashian broke her post-pregnancy silence to send 'prayers for his family' and Cory's girlfriend of two years, Lea Michele.
'Words cant describe what they must be feeling,' the new mother lamented.
Selena Gomez posted a photograph on Twitter of herself hugging the actor with the caption: This hurts. I love you Cory. Rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Kim's half-sister Kylie Jenner posted an old picture of the hunky star posing with herself and older sister Kendall with the caption: 'R.I.P.'
One Tree Hill's Sophia Bush was 'heartbroken' having just seen Cory 'a few weeks ago in NY, looking so happy.'
Gossip Girl's Kevin Zegers wrote how he had 'never lost a friend this close' adding, 'This feels like a mistake.'

Glee's Jayson Blair noted that there were 'too many young people leaving this earth too soon' and tweeted: 'My heart goes out to his family n friends. R.I.P.'
And his co-star Chord Overstreet's older brother Nash said Monteith was 'one of the best, kindest guys' he'd met.
Nash wrote: 'I can’t express how sad & horrible it is to hear about Cory Monteith. Pray for him, & his family.'
Bethenny Frankel tweeted Lea Michele offering her support: 'I love you Leah, and if there is anything you need whether a voice or a friend or a hug, I love you. Xo,' she wrote to the star via Twitter.
The hashtags #prayforLea and ##RipCoryMonteith were both trending on Twitter on Sunday morning.
