Miss Ukraine is Olesya Stefanko

Olesya Stefanko-Miss Ukraine 2011 with Anna Poslavska-Miss Ukraine 2010/3rd runner-up in Miss Universe 2010

Miss Ukraine is one of the most anticipated candidates for this year after the country's successful top-5 achievement in last year's pageant, where Anna Poslavska placed 3rd runner-up. The country's official representative for this year's pageant is Olesya Stefanko, a 22-year old native of Odessa, Region of Ivano-Frankivsk and a professional fashion model, who was crowned Miss Ukraine 2011 during a ceremony at Kyiv's Art and Culture Centre on December 11, 2010. She stands 178 cm. tall and a student at Odessa Law Academy.

Before competing in Miss Ukraine, she was named Miss Odessa National Law Academy in the year 2008 as representative of her school's Institute of Prosecution and Investigation.

Anastasiya Buriak was the 1st runner-up with Irina Samulya as the 2nd runner-up. The five finalists won vouchers for tourism trips to Cannes, and Olesya received a golden necklace with precious stones, and the fullest right to compete in MU 2011 in Sau Paolo, Brazil on September this year.

Here are some of the comments I collected about Olesya from pageant enthusiasts around the globe. Credit goes to missosology.org for the comments:

"Ukraine keeps sending gorgeous representatives. This year won't be an exception, especially after the magnificient result achieved last year with Anna Poslavska. Talking about Oleysa, I see massive potential in this girl. Many people complain about her teeth gap, and I seriosuly don't get it. In 2007, we saw for the first time at Miss Universe, maybe in pageants, a bald delegate. So, what would be the problem? Does a beauty queen necessarily need to be just flawless? I don't think so. Oleysa has an interesting kind of beauty, something that immediately catches your eyes. And the eyes mark her lovely face. With more training, and hopefully, if she gains a little weight, nobody else would be happier than me to see this girl crowned as the new Miss Universe."

"Ukraine is physically gorgeous but I don't see that spark in her personality. But she looks very mysterious and maybe that's going to help her."
--giozeppe460

"Upper-middle class beauty! Nothing special! Boring!"
--Miss Universe 1000 B.C.

"I see Brooke Shields in Miss Ukraine. I don't know, I think with the eyes and eyebrows. So far, she's at the top of my list no matter how disturbing her teeth are, still have months to fix it."
--sexyhippo

"She is pretty she sure will be a clapper at miss universe."
--yomama

"I love this girl. If any Europeans shall make the top 5, and perhaps win Miss Universe 2011, then Olesya is your contender. She is absolutely stunning, and I just love every quality that she has to offer. She's a unique beauty that is bound to make waves in Brazil, this year."
--sexydrew82

"Her face is a perfection."
--Mbie

"Beautiful! If she has the walk and the body, I can see her making the final 5."
--Sean

"Her face isn't bad, but not perfection. I hate her smile."
--wojtek

"I like her. Brooke Shield dead ringer with some edge!"
--mocha

"She seems promising, but I think she needs some dental work before Miss Universe."
--antoine

"Her dentist should refer her to an ORTHODONTIST to fix her "DIASTEMAS". She doesn't look good when she smiles!"
--bloomfield

"Teeth gaps are between the new sensations nowadays. Just look at the hundreds of Lara Stone clones. She's still pretty. I like her."
--topnotch100

"She is ok but please don't smile. She should get some flippers, like those girls in Toddlers & Tiaras wear when they lose a tooth."
--shamster

"She is a Ukraine goddess. Probably has a goal to beat Anna Poslavska, which I think will happen."
--yomama
