A 23-year-old political activist was last night revealed as the woman allegedly at the center of Anthony Weiner's latest sexting scandal - which took place a year after he resigned from office in disgrace.
The former congressman who was previously leading the race to become New York City's next mayor is now being called on by his competitors to drop out and was the subject of scathing editorials from the city's leading newspapers. Billionaire Republican candidate John Catsimatidis and Democrats Sal Albanese and Bill de Blasio have all made statements urging him to resign, with de Blasio saying: 'Enough is enough'.

The New York Times cited his 'marital troubles and personal compulsions' as reason for the 48-year-old Democrat to leave the race while The Wall Street Journal claimed he should be forced out 'simply because of what he's forced his wife to endure'.
The latest woman who shared her sex messages with Weiner was identified by Buzzfeed as Sydney Leathers, and her name became public just hours after she released copies of explicit conversations with the disgraced ex-Congressman and pictures of his genitals that she claims he sent her.

Sydney Elaine Leathers is a 23-year-old blogger for the Indiana Progressive Liberals and was a field organizer for Obama's re-election campaign. She once named Weiner as a political hero online.
Weiner and wife Huma Abedin made a joint appearance earlier on Tuesday saying that the latest revelations of extra-marital sexual exchanges will not cause him to drop out of the race for New York City Mayor.
Following the scandal, Weiner later carried on with his mayoral campaign, making a stop at a Gay Men's Health Crisis Mayoral Forum on HIV/AIDS in the city. City Council Speaker Christine Quinn is now leading the race; she has not released a statement regarding the latest Weiner revelations.
